During the seminar, a Russian translation of the new ICC Arbitration Rules, which entered into force on 1 January 2021, was presented. Specifically, Dmitry Dyakin, Deputy Chairman of the ICC Russia Commission on Arbitration and a partner and Head of Arbitration Practice at RGP, discussed the powers of the arbitral tribunals under the ICC Arbitration Rules after issuing an arbitral award, as well as changes in the ICC Arbitration Rules in relation to additional awards.
The following issues were also discussed at the seminar:
changes relating to document management and internal organisation of the Court;
changes relating to conflict of interests and independence of the arbitral tribunal;
changes relating to joinder of additional parties and consolidation of two or more arbitrations;
the expedited procedure in the ICC Arbitration Rules and raising the opt-out threshold for expedited arbitrations;
Importance of the Russian version of the ICC Arbitration Rules in dispute resolution.
Also, the matters of conducting the arbitration hearings during the COVID-related restrictions period were discussed, and the statistics of the ICC International Court of Arbitration for 2020 were presented.
