English Law Week meets Russian Law Week: Dmitry Dyakin to lead the Disputes panel discussion
From 23 to 25 November, the traditional English/Russian Law Week – a conference organised by the Bar Council and the Law Society of England and Wales – will be held as a series of online events. The conference has been held for more than ten years and brings together leading legal experts, providing a unique place for sharing ideas and expertise, establishing and expanding legal links between the two countries. RGP’s Partner Dmitry Dyakin will moderate one of the key panels of the conference.

As part of the extensive business programme, leading Russian and international legal experts – judges, academics and practicing lawyers – will discuss the latest trends for legal services in Russia and England & Wales. The key topics for discussion include the impact of sanctions on Russian and British law firms, resolution of complex cross-border disputes during the pandemic, and other pressing issues.

It is an established tradition at the conference to choose moderators and speakers from among leading Russian and British lawyers, and on the invitation of the organising committee, Dmitry Dyakin, Partner and Head of Arbitration practice at RGP, will moderate the disputes panel discussion. During the discussion the participants will debate and analyze how the lockdown changed our lives and arbitration, discuss new LCIA Rules and enforceability of awards made after virtual hearings. Other topics will include the Riverrock securities case, antisuit injunctions and foreign proceedings, as well as Russian counter-sanctions law and its possible impact on arbitrations seated outside of Russia.
