Dmitry Dyakin to speak at a conference “Agribusiness and International Trade: Export Opportunities in 2021”
On 2 December, the Russian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Russia), with the support of Rosselhozbank, will hold an online conference “Agribusiness and International Trade: Export Opportunities in 2021”.

Dmitry Dyakin, Partner and Head of Arbitration practice at RGP, will take part in the event and give a speech “Resolution of disputes arising out of export contracts of agricultural producers: developments in the court and arbitration practice”.

Each year, over a thousand disputes involving Russian agro-industrial companies are considered in Russia and abroad. In his speech, Dmitry will highlight the main trends in resolving agricultural disputes involving major Russian agricultural holdings and exporters. He will talk about whether a Russian court would recognise a multibillion contract for storage and supply of agricultural products concluded via exchange of informal text messages in a messenger; the specifics of disputes between agricultural producers and supervisory bodies:

Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance), Rosprirodnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources), etc., and penalties that might be imposed on the offenders; the benefits of referring the disputes arising out of export contracts to specialised international arbitrations (GAFTA, FOSFA, etc.), and how to achieve efficient enforcement of the awards of such arbitration bodies in Russia. Dmitry will also discuss other dispute resolution issues of interest to agro-industrial and agricultural companies.
