Yuri Makhonin, a Counsel at Dispute Resolution practice at Rybalkin, Gortsunyan, Dyakin and Partners (RGD), participated in the session of the Master programme “Judicial Financial and Economic Expertise” at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.

The session was held both in online and offline formats. The lessons were given by famous practicing lawyers. Students reviewed the cases with the use of financial and economic expertise in tax disputes and criminal cases, economic criminal cases, tax disputes and economic disputes. Within the session, there were business games on arbitration and criminal proceedings.

Yuri reviewed general approaches, problematic issues as well as cases on economic disputes with the use of financial and economic expertise. The speaker discussed with the students practical questions of organisation and conduct of expertise, focused on expert’s particular rights and duties which are disregarded by experts. In his presentation, Yury also reviewed the case with the expertise in loss of profits under bankruptcy and discussed methodological questions and expert’s mistakes.

The Master’s programme “Judicial Financial and Economic Expertise” is based on Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and taught since 2019. The programme provides legal background which allows to represent clients in courts on financial and economic disputes, prepare various types of court expertise.
