Dmitry Dyakin, Partner and Co-head of the Dispute Resolution Practice of the law firm Rybalkin, Gortsunyan, Dyakin and Partners (RGD), along with Partner Dmitry Kaysin, Associate Alexandra Aslanyan, and Junior Associate Dmitry Smirnov, acted as legal advisers to Aeroflot in the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA). The dispute involved numerous aircraft stranded in Russia after the 2022 events. Thanks to RGD assistance, Aeroflot successfully settled a $645 million dispute with the subsidiaries of AerCap Holdings N.V. and purchased the disputed aircraft.

In 2022, when Western sanctions were imposed on Russian entities, leasing companies canceled their leases for approximately 400 planes stranded in Russia at that time and demanded their return. AerCap subsidiaries initiated five LCIA arbitration proceedings against Aeroflot.

Previously, RGD lawyers achieved a positive outcome for their client in a lawsuit filed by the leasing company Gain Aircraft against Rossiya Airlines and Aeroflot. The initial decision was overturned in May of this year, and Aeroflot was awarded reimbursement of costs.
