Anton Sheronov, Associate at Antitrust & Competition Practice at Rybalkin, Gortsunyan, Dyakin & Partners law firm (RGD), took part in the conference titled "Antitrust Law: Rising To a New Level" organized by the Pravo.ru portal.

The conference brought together experts on antitrust law from top Russian law firms, representatives from the Federal Antimonopoly Service, and members of the academic community. The participants discussed various topics, including the latest developments in antitrust legislation, the application of antitrust legislation to intellectual property, and ongoing cases in the field.

During his presentation, Anton Sheronov focused on the application of antitrust law in relation to intellectual property, using the abuse of exclusive rights as an illustrative example. He highlighted that it is not uncommon for copyright holders to seek exclusive rights to gain market dominance and establish a legal monopoly. Anton emphasized that this situation is not unique to Russia but is also observed in Western countries. He further explained that different jurisdictions have developed their own measures to address this issue, but ultimately, the key to tackling the abuse of dominance and exclusive rights lies in considering the interests of both copyright holders and society as a whole.
