On June 19, Moscow hosted Antimonopoly Forum, one of Russia’s most important events dedicated to competition. Held since 2009, the forum is organized by the Association of Antitrust Experts. In addition to senior officials from the Federal Antimonopoly Service, it has also brought together key expert practitioners, representatives of competition authorities from other countries, and leaders from large companies.

Nato Tskhakaya, Partner and Head of Regulatory Practice at Rybalkin, Gortsunyan, Dyakin and Partners law firm (RGD), spoke at a special session on foreign investment in a period of global transformation. The session was co-moderated by Andrey Tsyganov, Deputy Head of the FAS Russia.

In her presentation titled "The specifics of approving transactions involving foreign individuals and legal entities: results for 2023 and prospects" Nato spoke about how transactions involving persons from unfriendly countries take place, highlighted the approaches of the antimonopoly authority and the Sub-Commission in determining control, beneficial owners and intra-group transactions using a practical example, trends in FAS's assessment of the presence or establishment of control in strategic examples. 

Given the often changing antitrust and counter-sanctions regulations, these topics are especially relevant in the current economic situation. The session ended with a lively discussion, during which the speakers answered various questions from the audience.
