Dmitry focuses on the resolution of cross-border commercial disputes and represents clients in litigation and arbitration proceedings both in Russia and abroad. He has significant experience in representing clients in disputes with the involvement of states. Dmitry is experienced in arbitrating under LCIA, SCC, Swiss Chambers, UNCITRAL, ICAC and WIPO arbitration rules. He has outstanding expertise in disputes involving public-law entities and international investment disputes. He also possesses significant experience in providing legal support in restructuring projects and bankruptcy proceedings. Dmitry’s clients include leading companies in banking and finance sectors, industrial enterprises, oil and gas companies, transportation and logistics companies, as well as leaders of FMCG sector and major retail networks.
Dmitry Kaysin is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MСIArb) and sits on the Steering Committee of the Russian Chapter of CIArb’s European Branch, launched in 2020. He is also a member of the Nomination Committee of the Commission on International Arbitration, ICC Russia. Dmitry is engaged in academic work and is a lecturer at the Law School of the Higher School of Economics where he co-lectures International Investment Arbitration for graduate students. He is an author of a number of publications on exequatur procedures (recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards) and jurisdictional immunity of states.
Dmitry graduated from the Moscow State Academy of Law cum laude and holds an LL.M. degree from NYU School of Law, as well as PhD of the Moscow State Academy of Law. Dmitry has been admitted to the Moscow Region Bar Association since 2007. Dmitry is an arbitrator on the Shanghai International Arbitration Centre’s Panel of Arbitrators. He is recognised in The Best Lawyers in Russia 2020-2021 for work in international arbitration and litigation, and by The Legal 500 as a leading arbitration specialist in CIS and Caucasus.
