The ranking was established 40 years ago to discover leading individuals and distinguish their experience. Over 70 countries participate in the survey. The first edition of Best Lawyers in Russia was released in 2008.

The survey is based on professional experience, reputation and work record. The nominees are evaluated by their peers.
