Dmitry Kaisin, partner in RGP’s dispute resolution practice, took part in a round-table discussion dedicated to protecting investments in the BRICS countries through a new arbitration institution held as part of the Third International Municipal BRICS (IMBRICS) Forum. The round table was moderated by Sergey Belov, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the Saint Petersburg State University.
This year, IMBRICS focused on “Challenges to sustainable development and international municipal cooperation in the BRICS+ format. Municipal development as a gyroscope of a changing world.” The business programme was traditionally versatile, but the main block concerned the economic development of territories.
The Forum provided ground for the BRICS municipalities to make their annual presentations of investment projects, and for cooperation and twinning agreements between the BRICS cities, arrangements between associations and entities and agreements and contracts between the BRICS businesses and corporations to be executed.
Delegations from the Big Five countries took part in the Forum. Mr Lavrov, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, addressed the Forum’s organisers and participants with welcoming remarks.
The Forum was held on 5-6 November 2021 in an online format.
A record of the round table with the participation of Dmitry Kaisin is available here.
