The AD HOC ARBITRATION FORUM 2019 organized by the Arbitration Association (RAA) took place on 12 December 2019.
Yan Kalish, a Counsel at the Dispute Resolution Practice of law firm Rybalkin, Gortsunyan & Partners (RGP), was a member of the RAA’s ad hoc arbitration working group that organized the AD HOC ARBITRATION FORUM.
Yan also spoke at the session titled “How does ad hoc arbitration work?” alongside with Ilya Nikiforov, Managing Partner of Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners in Saint-Petersburg, where Yan talked about various nuances, tools and methods for choosing arbitrators for ad hoc arbitration correctly.
The main topics of the Forum were “Ad hoc arbitration and Russian arbitration reform: a new stage of development,” “Choosing arbitration: ad hoc vs institutional arbitration”, ”Adopting foreign ad hoc arbitration expertise” and “How does ad hoc arbitration work?”
The Forum was opened by Vladimir Khvalei, partner at Baker McKenzie, Roman Zykov, Secretary General at RAA, and Andrei Kostitsyn, an independent arbitrator and head of RAA’s ad hoc arbitration working group. The Forum also featured Russian and foreign experts including representatives of Russian and international law firms, ICC Court of Arbitration, and reputable arbitrators.
The Forum was attended by representatives of leading law firms, in-house lawyers, scientists and professional arbitrators.
