The “Time to Build” forum, organized by the Dispute Resolution Club, was held in Moscow on April 25, 2024. The event was dedicated to new strategies for managing construction contracts and resolving emerging disputes in Russia, China, the MENA region, and Southeast Asia. Participants also discussed dispute resolution strategies relating to parties from Europe, including the UK.

The forum brought together the most prominent developers, representatives from the oil and gas, energy, and metallurgical industries as well as Russian and international law firms specializing in resolving construction disputes.

Dmitry Dyakin, partner of the Rybalkin, Gortsunyan, Dyakin and Partners law firm (RGD) and co-head of its Dispute resolution practice, addressed the audience with a welcome speech. He thanked the forum organizers for holding an event with such wide representation, one which allows for the comprehensive consideration of controversial aspects of construction contracts covering various industries.

In the first session, moderated by Vladimir Pestrikov, partner of the RGD Dispute Resolution Practice, the participants talked about opportunities for Russian companies that have opened in the MENA region, the principle of the existence of three legal systems, the influence of Islamic law on arbitration proceedings, and much more.
