Konstantin Mineev, Partner of Corporate Practice at Rybalkin, Gortsunyan, Dyakin and Partners law firm (RGD), has co-authored a column with associate Dmitry Arnautov published by the Vedomosti newspaper.

In their article, they speak about redomiciliation, which has become a trend among Russian-owned cross-border businesses in the past couple of years. About 70% of the almost 300 redomiciled companies completed the process in 2023.

The RGD experts analyse the changes made to the redomiciliation law since 2018. Its original version differed significantly from the current one: businesses weren’t free to choose the applicable law, which led to difficulties in preserving their share structure and well-established corporate governance system. Legislators and law enforcement agencies addressed these issues, adapting the new versions of the law to the practical needs of businesses. Drawing on the example of companies such as VK, RUSAL, Lenta, and others, Konstantin and Dmitry tell the readers about the practical aspects of registering in SARs.
