Alexander Poychenko is an associate with RGD’s Sanctions and Dispute Resolution practices.

 

Background


Prior to joining the RGD team, Alexander worked at the Saint Petersburg office of Borenius, a leading Finnish law firm, and its Russian successor where he advised Russian and foreign clients (predominantly from Northern Europe) on international arbitration and unilateral economic measures against Russia. Alexander is also experienced in corporate law and conducting legal due diligence.

Landmark engagement experience


  • Advising a number of major Russian and foreign companies operating in the oil and electricity production, telecommunication and transport industries, as well as UHNWIs on the application of US, EU, UK, Swiss, Ukrainian sanctions and Russian countermeasures

  • Representing a Russian supplier of mining equipment in a FAI arbitration with a Finnish company regarding non-performance of contractual obligations due to the inclusion of a beneficiary of the end-purchaser in EU blocking sanctions

  • Representing an Indian aviation company in a SCC arbitration with a Russian manufacturer of turbine engines regarding alleged non-payment of overhaul works

  • Advising a Swedish company, a market-leading provider of systems solutions for central financial institutions in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and its majority shareholder on debt restructuring, corporate management and legal support for day-to-day activity in Russia and foreign jurisdictions

  • Advising a Danish company, a world leader in the processing of frozen fish production, on selling its Russian business to the local management team and investors
