Aleхander Taranenko is an Associate at RGD’s Sanctions and Dispute resolution practices.
Prior to joining RGD team, Alexander worked at major public-private financial institutions and several law firms in Russia and Asia. Alexander's experience covers sanctions compliance in organizations with an international presence and legal advice on the application of sanctions legislation and mitigation of sanctions risks. Alexander supported a group of companies offering business development services in new jurisdictions and provided legal guidance on tax legislation (including DTA application) and common law application (USA, Canada, Crown Dependencies, Singapore, and Hong Kong).
Over the past 7 years, Alexander has held senior positions in the legal departments of major Russian banks. In the banking sector, he arranged and coordinated court proceedings in Russia and other countries, overseeing the efforts of domestic and foreign legal advisers. Alexander handled various bankruptcy cases and cross-border disputes, including complex instances of cross-border insolvency where the powers of the liquidator needed to be recognized at the debtor's assets location. He also specializes in international commercial and investment arbitration, such as UNCITRAL, LCIA, and SIAC proceedings. His expertise extends to disputes involving the enforcement of foreign state and arbitration court decisions, debt recovery cases concerning public and private securities, corporate disputes, and disputes related to breach of contract and compensation of damages for torts.
